MY STORY
Adriene Brathwaite is a native of Prince George’s County, Maryland. She realized her love for theatre at the age of five, taking any opportunity she could to perform. A graduate of Suitland High School for the Performing Arts, Adriene soon went on to receive a Bachelors of Arts in Theatre and Rhetoric from the University of Maryland, College Park. After graduation, Adriene moved to New York City where she became an apprentice at the Barrow Group, under the direction of Seth Barrish and Lee Brock, where she acquired invaluable information that has enhanced her approach to acting. Adriene later joined The Flea Theatre’s resident acting company, the Bats,where she had the opportunity to perform with brilliant actors like Peter Gerety, Reg E. Cathey and David Hyde Pierce.
Throughout her time in New York City, Adriene has had the opportunity to perform in various productions and films. These include “Nica”, about the life of the famous Jazz musician Thelonious Monk, “Deadly Devotions” on the Investigative Discovery channel, and “Unheard”, a thought-provoking film on sexual abuse. She has produced her own films including BARE, which has won a variety of awards.
In 2017, Adriene moved to Los Angeles where she strives to continue to work on insightful films that reach a variety of audiences.
